  1. Western Pines RV Park is an established park community welcoming full time and nightly renters. With a whole new team of owners and management, our goal is to improve the quality our park and the community we are a part of. We are striving to improve all the current facilities and working towards expanding the entire park in the near future. Guests may take advantage of our 30/50 amp service sites along with WiFi and a dump station. Given our convenient location, we are just a short drive from shopping centers, quaint shops, wineries and great food. Close to SFASU and the brick streets of downtown. Whether it's for just one night or longer, we hope to see you soon!

Good for an overnight stay. We were going north so had to do a short u turn. Park is very close to gas and a restaurant. We were parked on grass, it was level but quite muddy. Close to highway and a lot of noise all night. Very good wifi.

Campground Response

Thank you for your review. This has been an unseasonably wet Spring and the rains have been consistent nearly every day. Record flooding in our area. We are hoping to alleviate some of the mud with our planned expansion with all spaces on paved surface. Hope to see you again.

This is a great spot! This is not a resort, but it’s a wonderful place to stay nonetheless, whether overnight or longer. If you’re looking for fun things to do at your RV site, this may not be the place for you — at least not yet. New owners/managers Pam and Gene, who took over in March of 2021, have grand plans for the park which were just approved by the city council. It’s a small place, and the spaces may be close, but there are no noisy neighbors or loud parties. Many full-time folks (some are SFA students) and some short-timers, but all are quiet, respectable tenants. We are here for about 5 months as we transition to a semi-nomadic life with our dogs, and we couldn’t be happier. Road noise? It’s close to the highway, yes, but it’s easy to tune out the sounds. The current park has a lot of room for walking your dog(s), and soon there will be a proper dog park, shower facility, laundromat, and many other amenities. (Again, there are new owners with grand designs for the place.) It’s a great place for stopping if you’re passing through, but it’s also a nice place if you need somewhere to post up for longer. Pam and Gene are wonderful people, and Drew is great as the site’s jack-of-all-trades. You will not find nicer folks. Stop in and check it out if you can. You’ll make an instant friend in Pam, and you’ll love your stay.

The campground was nice, the care taker was so kind and very friendly. It was a nice place to stay for parents weekend at SFA. Our spot was a bit narrow but we have a tiny trailer and no one minded out outside shower which makes things so much easier for us. All in all a great place Thanks

Campground Response

Hope y’all will come again! Thanks for staying with us and the review. Hopefully by next year at this time we will have our bigger spaces completed.

Stayed 10/5/21-10/30/21 2020 - 33 ft travel trailer. Will stay again if in the area. Formerly: Forest Country RV Oark. New Park name. Western Pines RV Park. Contact info: 936-645-6352. westernpinesrvpark@yahoo.com FHU Pull through grass and gravel sites 50 and/or 30 amp. New Managers: Pam & Gene Rates Daily $40; weekly starts at $175; Monthly 400 and includes electricity. Paid with credit card. WiFi was good enough to watch Amazon prime shows. Mostly without interruption. Online at site C-8 on 2-3 devices at a time Did not try local channels. Verizon and AT&T connection ok. The new managers took over in March 2021. The February freeze caused busted pipes etc So plans are to build a new Bath/ Laundry facility. Not sure when it will be done. No bath showers or laundry at this time. Other great improvements are also planned. There is a little office store with maybe a few items. I didn’t go in. Pam can be easily reached by phone. When she is away. She is very nice, pleasant and helpful. Gene is also nice and pleasant, he stays very busy improving the sites. There are 10 to 15 sites available for short visits Sites are close but doable. There are also stationary RV’s available to rent and stay in. There are no tables or fire pits at sites. We leveled slightly on one side. Not so bad that we couldn’t have done without if staying one night. They are serious about keeping all sites tidy . And strict about nuisance behaviors. There are full time residents, some in older trailers. But sites are not cluttered. All residents are nice people. Had a couple days of rain. Some sites had puddles at the edges but not bad. The park streets are packed down fine gravel, easier to take daily walks on than other parks we have been at. Pine Forest is at the far back. Open large area of grass at back and one side. Public safety offices on the other side. Have not seen any evidence of Dogs not being picked up after. There is highway noise. We run a fan at night and it doesn’t effect our sleep. Have NOT heard train noise , nor persistent dog noise. Nor people noise. Walmart 8 minutes. TA station. 3 minutes. Walking distance to a BBQ restaurant. Kinfolk restaurant. A gas station deli. Nacogdoches has a lot of tourist attractions. We needed to park near dealership (home base is 4 hours from dealer) to be available when parts arrived and repair schedule opened up. Fridge under a year old not working properly, gratefully fixed now.

Campground Response

We were delighted to have y’all. Our entire park family loved seeing you and Bill taking your daily walks. We hope your travels bring you back to our area again. The plans have just been finalized for our new Guest Services Center. Hopefully by the Spring 2022 it will be completed along with our expansion with wider sites and those picnic tables and fire pits. Laundry and Rest Rooms with Showers along with the new office. Thank you for choosing us as your place to stay. Come again soon.

Do not stay here. Loud noise from highway. No shade even though you’re in the Piney Woods. Description of Amenities is deceiving- no laundry or showers or dump station. Tight spaces with no privacy or on-site staff. WiFi might work. Not close to anything in town as its on service road of 59 so it’s out by itself right next to DPS office. Mostly full- time RV renters.

Campground Response

I’m sorry you had a bad experience at our park. If you would have voiced your concerns we would have gladly done our best to help any way we could. We do have a dump station and the WiFi works great. We are in the process of building new laundry and shower/bathroom facilities since our old one was damaged by the winter storm. We have been working on upgrading since the new owners came in less than a year ago. We are close to some of the best dining in town and only a couple miles from Walmart and the main thoroughfare through Nacogdoches, North Street. Downtown is a little further away but there are no RV parks close to the downtown area but only a short drive there. Again we are sorry for your bad experience and wish you would have reached out to us personally.

We stopped here “in town” in the middle of a 2 week trip. The manager was no where to be found. we weren’t able to do laundry because you had to pay with the manager. It’s just a plot of land with hookups and very crowded spots. The hookups worked well. It’s right on the highway and it was really loud at night.

Campsite was minimal, address cannot be found by GPS, noise from the Highway was horrible, no one on site, utilities were oriented so that my front door was directly across from my neighbor- strange. We had a reservation for 3 night but left after 2

Nice one night stay. I understand that renovations are planned. It would be nice if they designated a few easy in easy out sites for one night stopovers. It was difficult getting into sites.

This is a great little park if you only have basic needs: sewer, electric and Wi-Fi. Our rig was parked close to the router so we didn't have any connectivity issues. The owner and lot manager were very pleasant to speak to and very helpful. I'm only giving 4 stars though because the website states there is a laundry facility, and there is not. It also states trash service and community shower. There is one small building with a possible bathroom/shower that I did not venture into. The trash is one dumpster located at the center of the lot. My dog did love having the huge field to play fetch in. Ant hills were a small problem though. There may be plans to build out the park though, so my "issues" may be resolved for future tenants. We would go back there again, it's right off the highway and very close to dining, gas, propane and shopping a few miles further.

Being so close to the highway meant that there was loud truck traffic all night. The electrical connection was scary, and there were lots of fire ants.
