About

Located one-half mile off U.S. 41 on Oregon Church Road, Fowler Park serves as a multipurpose park. Inside Fowler Park are two lakes, a campground, picnic shelters, playgrounds, trails, a covered bridge and a pioneer village with a working gristmill. Fowler Lake, 25.9 acres, has a boat launch, a beach for swimming. The lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish and black crappie. The second lake is located on the west side of the park hidden behind the hillside. Largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill are found in it. Bask in the sun by the lake or enjoy a stroll under the covered bridge, there is so much beauty to be discovered at Fowler Park!

    Bring your speed and skills to Griffin Bike Park to race on the Pro Pump Track for prizes and bragging rights! Come out and try your hand at racing or bring your family and watch some of our local talents go at it on the ever-changing Griffin Bike Park short track! Classes for everyone and maybe the easiest courses you will ever see at GBP! Your best 4 out of 5 races including the finals count towards your season-end awards. Awards to top 3 at each race and top 5 season end. We encourage all racers to arrive early to check out the pump track and register! Registration is ONLY $20 and the day of the first race begins at 6:00 P.M. Series passes are available.   • Summer in the Village

    May 18 - August 17

    Join the VCPRD every third Saturday of the month May through August from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. for our Summer in the Village! Our cabin caretakers will open up their cabins for all to explore and demonstrate early 19th century skills and crafts. Each month will have a focus on a different craft or demonstration for you to learn! May's focus will be on gardening, come out to plant the village garden with our volunteers and learn more about gardening at your own home. May 18, June 15, July 20, August 17

  • Blacksmithing Classes

    May 18 - October 19

    Check out our Blacksmithing classes at Fowler Park! Work with experienced blacksmiths to learn how to operate a blacksmith forge, understand the parts of an anvil, and the uses for various hand tools in the blacksmith shop. Each participant will shape metal using learned techniques include forging a curve, twist, point, square – octagon – round taper, cutting stock, heating techniques, and fire management.
